Credentials
Licensed, certified, and insured for your protection
When you let a technician into your home, you deserve to know they are qualified, accountable, and covered. Every credential we hold is backed by a governing body, passed by examination or factory training, and renewed on a regular schedule. Here is what each one means and why it matters to you.
🏛️
City & County of Denver
HVAC Supervisor Certification
What it is: A state-regulated license issued by the City and County of Denver that authorizes the holder to supervise and perform HVAC system installations, replacements, and repairs within Denver jurisdiction. Candidates must pass a comprehensive examination covering code compliance, system design, and safety standards.
What this means for you: Your equipment is installed and serviced to code by a technician who has formally demonstrated the knowledge to do it safely and correctly — not someone on the job learning as they go.
🌿
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
EPA 608 Technician Certification
What it is: Federal certification required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act for any technician who handles refrigerants (Freon, R-410A, R-32, etc.). The exam tests knowledge of safe refrigerant recovery, recycling, and disposal procedures that prevent ozone-depleting substances from being vented into the atmosphere. It is illegal under federal law to service refrigerant systems without it.
What this means for you: Refrigerant work on your AC or heat pump is handled legally, safely, and responsibly. You will not face liability from improper refrigerant handling, and your system will be recharged correctly — not guessed at.
💎
Mitsubishi Electric
Factory-Trained & Certified Contractor
What it is: Hands-on factory training and certification directly from Mitsubishi Electric for the installation, commissioning, and repair of their ductless mini split and multi-zone systems. Training covers system sizing, refrigerant line sets, electrical requirements, commissioning procedures, error code diagnostics, and warranty-compliant installation practices.
What this means for you: Your Mitsubishi mini split is installed and serviced by someone trained by the manufacturer, not just someone who has watched a few YouTube videos. Proper installation also preserves your manufacturer warranty — something an uncertified install can void.
🔥
Heat Exchanger Experts® · Est. 1993
Certified Heat Exchanger Expert
What it is: Certification #HE26-14327, issued April 4, 2026 by Heat Exchanger Experts® — an industry training organization established in 1993. The Residential Furnace Heat Exchanger Inspection Course trains technicians to identify cracks, holes, and failures in furnace heat exchangers: the component responsible for separating combustion gases (including carbon monoxide) from the air circulating through your home.
What this means for you: A cracked heat exchanger is one of the most dangerous — and most commonly missed — furnace problems. It can allow carbon monoxide to enter your living space without tripping a detector. Having a certified inspector examine yours means you are getting a trained set of eyes on the component that matters most for your family’s safety, not just a quick visual glance.
🛡️
Liability & Workers’ Comp
Fully Licensed & Insured
What it is: Active general liability insurance covering property damage or injury that may occur during a service call, plus workers’ compensation coverage for every technician on the job. Both policies are maintained with current certificates of insurance available on request.
What this means for you: If something unexpected happens at your home during a service call, you are not left holding the bill. Hiring an uninsured contractor puts your homeowner’s insurance — and your wallet — at risk. With us, you are fully protected.
Need proof of credentials? We are happy to provide copies of our license, insurance certificates, and certifications before any work begins. Just ask when you call —

Leadership
Meet Lance Fredrickson, owner
Lance founded Blue Collar Heating and Air (originally Lance Mechanical) in 2023 after more than 20 years of hands-on HVAC experience. His approach is simple: do quality work, charge fair prices, and treat every customer like family.
With an HVAC Supervisor certification from the City and County of Denver, EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling, Mitsubishi factory training for mini split systems, and a Certified Heat Exchanger Expert credential from Heat Exchanger Experts®, Lance brings both expertise and integrity to every job.
“We’re not the biggest HVAC company in Denver, but we aim to be the most reliable. When we say we’ll be there, we show up. When we quote a price, that’s what you pay. And when we fix something, it stays fixed.” — Lance Fredrickson
